Welcome to the Team!

As a listener to LABLEd, you will know by now how important the accessibility of our show is. LABLEd is for everyone and we’d be failing our audience if we didn’t make a podcast about disability, a space for everyone to make their voices listened to.

We recently had an opening for a Transcriptionist, a role that alongside the editor is so important to our work.

We are pleased to say that Laura Mcphail has joined our team as the transcriptionist. Laura’s experience will fit well with the role and we hope her skills will benefit our listeners!

We asked Laura to write a few words to introduce herself to you… So without further ado… Hello Laura!

Laura writes

Hello!

I’m Laura and I’ve recently joined the lABLEd team as a volunteer transcriptionist. I live in Staffordshire with my partner and our black Labrador, Mia whom we both absolutely adore.

Mia a black lab with brown eyes looks at the camera, sitting on grass and earth

I have Cerebral Palsy and use a wheelchair full time. I enjoy listening to music and attending concerts and comedy nights. Some of the artists I have enjoyed seeing over the years include Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Richard Ashcroft, Bon Jovi and Oasis and Lee Evans and John Bishop.

I am an avid reader and particularly enjoy autobiographies and true crime. When I am not reading, I am usually cross stitching and listening to audiobooks and podcasts on a variety of topics including disability, accessibility, health, and lifestyle

I’m an avid listener to LABLEd and I’m looking forward to helping the team continue to be accessible to all!

We are expanding the transcript team, so if you fancy getting involved and helping me out please get in touch and email labledpodcast@gmail.com.
